4.5 magnitude earthquake rocks Davao Oriental Town

MANILA, Philippines - The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) recorded a 4.5 magnitude earthquake that hit the vicinity of Mati, Davao Oriental yesterday (March 19) morning.

Phivolcs reported that the tremor happened at around 8:36 a.m. yesterday (March 19) and was said to be tectonic in origin.

There were no monitored intensities. Phivolcs is also not expecting any damages and aftershocks.

The Philippine archipelago is part of the Pacific Ring of Fire where volcanic activities and earthquakes are common.
